On the 'Hue Saturation Brightness' thingy

Hey Dimi,

Got a quick and dirty answer for that Hue Saturation Brightness issue in this episode. Basically, it's just one of many colorspaces.

You know RGB, right? To get to a certain color you would change the values of your Red, Blue and Greens. In print you would change C, M, Y and K values.

The Hue Saturation Brightness (HSB) model lets you find a color by changing the Hue (color tone), the Saturation (saturation of that color) and Brightness (well, heh, brightness of the color) to get to a specific result.

There are many more color models, and each of them is kind of tied to specific industries. The best way to check it out is opening a Photoshop, I mean Gimp, and open up the panel to change a color. The HSB scales will be in there, so you can toy with them.

Thx for all the good shows!

HSB, in plain english

Hi Frank,

thanks for explaining this ! I confess that without proper explanation the whole color spaces discussion goes completely over my head. Now I'm grasping a bit what it means.

now I know why a graphic designer is mostly referred to as a 'graphic professional' ;)

thanks again,
Dimi.
