Episode 011 : Augustijn
Brewed by the Augustinian Fathers of Ghent (in Belgium) since 1295, this one has a hoppy flavor with a malty background. (apparently there is a light fruity vanilla flavor hidden somewhere in the beer, for the real beer geeks to discover I guess)
8% alcohol : seems like this is the best percentage for beers.
This beer enjoys also the secondary fermentation in the bottle or the keg. But what is second fermentation ? Second fermentation can be done by adding a little yeast and sugar to the beer when packaged into the bottle or keg. This converts itself into alcohol and carbon dioxide and gives it the full body and mature taste.
Not bad, did not find the vanilla flavor but it's just as well.
