Sourcetrunk (Episode 009)
This episode will be very secure, so secure I can perfectly deny that it has ever been produced. Embrace Truecrypt ! Windows and Linux software for securing your data. Open Source of course.
I. system tools : Truecrypt
Free open-source disk encryption software for Windows XP/2000/2003 and Linux
Main Features:
Creates a virtual encrypted disk within a file and mounts it as a real disk.
Encrypts an entire hard disk partition or a storage device such as USB flash drive.
Encryption is automatic, real-time (on-the-fly) and transparent.
Provides two levels of plausible deniability, in case an adversary forces you to reveal the password:
1) Hidden volume (steganography – more information may be found here).
2) No TrueCrypt volume can be identified (volumes cannot be distinguished from random data).
Encryption algorithms: AES-256, Blowfish (448-bit key), CAST5, Serpent, Triple DES, and Twofish.
Mode of operation: LRW (CBC supported as legacy).
Conceived in 2003.

The Little Extra
Hi Dimitri,
I like the Little Extra, and I'd prefer that you didn't do project updates (like the Valid Syntax podcast). If you need to spend extra time on something like TrueCrypt, do it. If you have two smaller items you can easily cover in 10-15 minutes each, do that too.
Keep up the good work!
Peter
The little extra...
Hi Peter,
bigger project : only that project
smaller projects : do both in 10-15 minutes
great ! will consider it, thanks for the feedback.

The little extra...
Hi
Great show! I really like the way you explain things. Simple, clear and all importants stuff covered. Well done.
So now about your question regarding the little extra.
Here are a few other suggestions:
- spend more time on the little extra
- don't do it every time
- a combination of the 2 above
But if I have to chose between your 3 suggestions then my vote goes to the anecdotes. I think that the news would be outdated by the time we hear it and the updates are only interesting if you use the software.
And anecdotes are more fun.
If I were you I wouldn't stick with a fixed format... keep the beer :P and the review and the little extra will be a suprise. Is it a review? An anecdote? A joke? News? Updates? Something new? More beer :P?
I hope this helps.
Bye,
Lesly
