Sourcetrunk (Episode 008)
This episode will be about ripping audio CD's with Sound Juicer, MusicBrainz and the little extra named Blat. Linux,BSD and Microsoft Windows software for Blat. All GNU GPL and public domain software.
I. multimedia software : Sound Juicer
Sound Juicer is a clean, mean, and lean CD ripper for GNOME 2.
It sports a clean interface and simple preferences, aiming to do The Right Thing and What You Mean all of the time. It requires GNOME 2.16 and GStreamer 0.10.

II. the little extra : Blat
Blat is a Public Domain (generous aren't we?) Win32 console utility that sends the contents of a file in an e-mail message using the SMTP protocol. Blat is useful for creating scripts where mail has to be sent automatically (CGI, backups, etc.) To use Blat you must have access to a SMTP server via TCP-IP. Blat can store various default settings in the
registry. The command line options override the registry settings.

RubyRipper
You should definitely try RubyRipper as a replacement for Soundjuicer (http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?title=Rubyripper).
The interfaces are almost identical, but Rubyripper rips tracks twice and compares the output for accuracy. It works on the same principle as EAC, the best ripper for Windows. I would be interested to see how Rubyripper deals with the scratched CD that crashed Soundjuicer.
RubyRipper
Hi,
RubyRipper looks like a good replacement for SoundJuicer, I've put it on my list of software that possibly will be reviewed. I like the attention they put in autocorrection and will certainly try out the Audio CD's that failed with soundjuicer :)
