It's a pretty heavy Belgian Beer (9% alcohol), named after the flemish fighters in the Batlle of the farmers (the Boerenkrijg). The Flemish Farmers where called 'Brigands' and they gave the french oppressor a really hard time. The beer does kind of represent that, it has a cidery taste but a very warm and strong afterglow.

It happens to be the favorite beer of my godfather, who named his dog brigand, after this beer.
